Moroccan born LevYatan grew up in Israel. At the age of 14, he started playing guitar, rock fusion and jazz. At 19 he joined the IDF and traveled the country entertaining the troops. After his years in the army, he moved to Paris. A gifted vocalist, songwriter and musician, the young troubadour formed his own band in the 80’s called "The Rail." His journey then continued to the USA, where he formed the "Mesila Band," recording at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco. Exploring the Kabbalah of his own tradition, LevYatan’s musical compositions reflect his own spiritual searching and combine the varied musical elements he has encountered along the way. He recorded and released a popular album of original Hebrew songs entitled "Yismach Moshe," and played for several years with the Los Angeles rock band "Providence." LevYatan, fuses rock, and Moroccan trance, combining rich melody and warmly, enveloping vocals with a simply stated yet profound journey into the Mystic Heart with songs of love and hope like "To Be" and "Trust." It says, "Faith is what makes you free, no matter where you fall." LevYatan's powerful message has drawn a legion of fans that find themselves entertained, encouraged, warmed, and even changed by his music. Sure enough, LevYatan's creative fire remains bright with the release of his most recent Hebrew rock album "Wisdom of the Stream." "Writing songs teaches me," he says. "It's like I hear words I could not make up in my own head -- they're way more wise than I am! When I hear it in the completed song, I say, Wow, that's a message for me." That's the thing that excites me, listening to this album and seeing how my life is going to manifest itself into even more of what these songs are. The music of LevYatan expresses an unshakable, and always much-needed, faith in the ways that love and life can lead us to our best selves. He has proven again his ability to move thousands -- one heart at a time.
