This album is a departure from the usual format of the Chabad Classics series and presents a different look at some of the best music Chabad has to offer. Unlike the previous four volumes of Chabad Classics, whose songs were mainly orchestrated utilizing a combination of digital samplers, synthesizers, and live instruments, this recording is performed in its entirety on an acoustic piano without any vocals. Yaron Gershovsky, renown for his prodigious talent and nimble touch, performs all the selected pieces. For those new to the music of Chabad, you will hear how they are extremely unique. There are songs that express great longing; others reflect introspection and self-evaluation; still others express joy and ecstasy; all alike revealn the inner state of one's soul. Chabad's songs have a special character and quality that brings forth latent religious warmth in the heart of its listener. For those unfamiliar with the teachings of Chassidism, these songs, niggunim as they are called in Hebrew, will serve as a glimpse of the spiritual richness of Chassidic life.
